Supurrnatural
...is an oc universe that spawned from my special interest in the CW's Supernatural. Don't worry about what you may or may not know of Supernatural, though, because this is like if you told a newborn baby who spent 10 minutes on tumblr to create supernatural but with cats instead. Some storylines and names are borrowed, but besides that it's pretty different. It's self-indulgent and barely has a plot but I love these stupid guys with all my heart.
It stars Cassiel, Sarah, and Dean. Cassiel (commonly referred to as 'Cass') is a member of a group called 'The Angels' who was sent on a mission to save Dean and Sarah from a hard spot. Sarah and Dean are siblings and monster hunters who were put in that hard spot by Sarah, who killed their father on impulse. The "hard spot" was prison. Dean took the blame for the patricide, but once he had been busted out, The Angels knew Sarah would be the one the hunters questioned. That's the basic synopsis, a bunch of other shit happens, but that's where I started.
world-building
BEFORE the world, what was there? (work in progress section. note-to-self, think about how the world was made. refer to the old ramblings and see what you want to keep.)
THERE are three big groups, the demons, the angels, and the humans. Despite their names, they're all just cats. Within the humans, there are two more groups, hunters and witches. Unlike the other aforementioned groups, most humans dont fall into either of these groups. Hunters are cats who put spirits to rest and/or fight monsters. Witches are cats who have harnessed magic, though few use it maliciously. The angels are a group that also use magic though are also trained in physical fighting, not too dissimilar from their main enemies, the demons. The Demons are also very experienced in physical combat, though their magic use is far more scant.
THE ANGELS are a cult that follow a monotheistic system most similar to Christianity. They know their leader, The Father, sometimes known simply as "Tom," is God, and that they are His angels. Some humans also hold the belief that The Father is God, though none of them to the same extent as The Angels. The Angels, besides that, are mostly known for their extensive knowledge of magic, and their powerful militia.
They have a hierarchy that goes The Father (leader) to the archangels (a small elite of 7 cats) to the seraphim and cherubim (will be better explained in a little) to fledgelings (the young). They also have prisoners, though they arent considered members. The seraphim and cherubim make up the most of the group, and there is actually some groups among them. The seraphim are the fighters and cherubim are hunters. The Angels actually lack any designated doctors or healers as everyone in the group is taught enough magic to make a role like that obsolete. Fledgelings are mostly taught by either higher-ranking seraphim, cherubim, or archangels. Both the seraphim and cherubim have smaller and more unimportant hierachies that mimic eachother. They both have captains, generals, and normal fighters/hunters. Captains are treated similarly to archangels, with immense respect. Captains control their "class" (seraphim/cherubim), but can still be vetoed by the archangels and The Father. The archangels, when a captain dies (or is promoted, which will be discussed later), will hold a vote for who replaces them, and will choose from the generals. The generals are similar, though they control a smaller group among their class. There's usually only around five generals at a time. When generals die (or are promoted), they're replaced by one of the fighters/hunters that the captain appoints. The only power the fighters/hunters really have is telling the fledgelings to do random chores, but even then generals or captains (and above) can veto them.
..But wait! There's more! The Angels also allow for promotion, usually only done when someone in the class above dies off, but it can be done when someone does outstanding work (usually along with the convienient disappearance of the lowest performing person above them). With one promotion, theres usually an observable chain of promotions that come with it. For example, when an archangel dies, a captain is promoted, when a captain is promoted, a general gets promoted, and when a general is promoted, a fighter/soldier is promoted. For this reason, (and some reasons that come from their faith,) death is seen as a cause for celebration among the angels.
THE DEMONS were originally a small rebellion against the angels (specifically The Father) that completely defected from the angels. They aren't too unlike the angels, but collectively believe more bly in the power of the individual rather then the power of the hive. They also depend more on natural flesh-and-blood combat, rather then the impersonal magic the angels are known for.
Like I said before, the demons and the angels aren't actually too different, and that does apply to their hierarchies. The demons have a similar idea, though with whats basically a coat of edgy red paint. Theirs goes The King to the Representatives ("reps.") to knights and fiends to imps. They also have prisoners, but who doesn't at this point. The demons also have Hellhounds, dogs trained by higher-ranking knights and fiends. Knights and fiends also have a smaller hierarchy within them, though they only have generals, which are the exact same as their namesake.
The demons also kind of have their own promotion system, that sees much less use than the angels'. The demons can replace their king, and usually only do so when he dies off. Very rarely, the king dies off and it's not by one of the demons themselves. Death isnt celebrated among the demons like it is in the angels.
